It was a great weather on Saturday (6 July 2013) and both Rachel and I planned to go for a photo shooting trip as she wish to train up her photo taking skill for our holiday during the October time. Early in the morning, we took public transport to Changi Village where there was Changi Point Ferry Terminal within walking distance which will be able to take us to Pulau Ubin.
Before we board the bus from Tanah Merah MRT Station to Changi Bus Terminal (Changi Village), we bought 2 x mineral water at the 7-11 store within the station thinking that the drinks over at Pulau Ubin sure will be more expensive than inland and went happily to board our bus.
Bus stop at Changi Village Food Centre
After reaching the place, we decided to have our brunch over at Changi Village first before proceeding to take the ferry. Over at Changi Village Food Centre, I hear that there was a very popular Nasi Lemak Stall which sell very nice dish but when I saw the queue, I decided to try other stall instead as it do not seems to be worth the time to queue so long for a Nasi Lemak.
The popular Nasi Lemak but the queue was too long
Another stall (International Muslim Food Stall) selling Nasi Lemak but shorter queue so I decided to buy from this stall instead
Once a while, my family will go out to nearby coffeeshop to dine at the Zi Char stall nearby my house. This was just one of the Saturday (8 June 2013) which we went out for dinner instead of cooking at home. There were a few Zi Char stall nearby my area due to the many coffeeshop around these places (Around 7 coffeeshop walking distance from my block.
My family decided to dine over at a Zi Char stall called “You Le Tian Seafood Restaurant” (有樂天海鲜). When we reached the place, we were able to find a table without any waiting as these Zi Char stall will always “Reserved” some tables for people who dine at their stall. In terms of cleanliness of the place, do not expect too much air-conditioning restaurant style of place when you are at a open air coffeeshop.
Saturday (1 June 2013) was a special day as both Rachel and me needs to go Marina Square Shopping Mall to look at one of our event results. Both of us were very excited to see the result of our pass week (or Months) of effort. Rachel’s sisters (Laurel and Hazel) will be meeting us later on to give suggestion and etc too.
Angry Birds Hall of Fame
Did a short windows shopping while over at Marina Square too and there was an event of Angry Bird merchandize over there. Those who spend a minium amount of things at Marina Square will also be entitled to some games here too as you can see a lot of people especially kids were having fun over at this event.
Rise and shine, one day had passed from our 3 days trip and since Saturday (25 May 2013) is a weekend which means a lot of people should be going to those popular attractions which we had planned to go too. First thing we must do after washing up was to go for our complimentary breakfasts at ground level of the hotel.
Refresh from a day rest
Restaurant which catered for our breakfast for these 2 days.
There were quite a lot of Indians guest having their breakfast at the restaurant when we were there and it seems that they were here on business trip as most of them wearing formal attire. Anyway the staff took our coupon for breakfast and just let us free and easy for us to find and get tables for ourselves before going for the breakfast buffet. The dishes there were quite acceptable but most or all of the dishes were not warm / hot.
After just meeting with Rachel on Friday evening for dinner cum drinking session, we meet up with each other on Saturday (11 May 2013) again as we need to go Bugis to survey on some of the things which we had been preparing to buy before planned to go back to Malaysia to have dinner together with Rachel’s Family.
So we meet at up Jurong East before proceeding to Bugis. Before proceeding to shop around, we stopped by the Bugis hawker center for a lunch first. There were quite a lot of people having their meals there as from what I know there were some very popular stall over at these area and some of them even being interviewed by some of the food critics shows.
Black Carrot Cake
Forgotten which stall are more popular ones, we just proceed to look around the place and buy anything that caught our eyes. In the end, I bough black carrot cake (Aka “Chai Tao Kway”) which was not well prepared as I was still able to taste that raw black soya sauce not really mixed well with the carrot cake though the carrot cake by itself was soft and powdery (Did not put any spring onions on top of it like most of the other carrot cake stall too). Rachel on the other hand bought Mee Rebus from one of the Malay stall (There are many more selling the same stuff).
Actually, this stall had been around for quite sometime while I always wanted to blog about them as their bread were really good.
One of their popular bread sold was the Custard Buns (流沙包 / Liu Sha Bao) which you can feel the salted egg liquid over flowing out when you bite onto the bread. I loves some of their other bread like Cranberry Cheese Bread or just normal Custard Buns which consist of just custard instead of salted egg.
As mentioned in my earlier blog post, after having our breakfast at ToastBox, we proceed to walk over to Sentosa as there are too many people queuing up to enter Sentosa via the Train.
This is just one part of the super long snake shape queue
Actually, the distance between VivoCity and Sentosa through the boardwalk is not very far and you can get to enjoy the scenery of the place where halfway through, you can find 2 cafe over at this place (One of them was Queen which we used to come and will still be for small gathering and chat).
