Rachel had planned to go back Malaysia on Saturday (20 July 2013) so I went together with her back to stay over for 1 night. The traffic at custom were always so slow which caused a long queue.
Anyway, Rachel’s mother was good enough to come fetch us when we reached Malaysia to go back to their house. We just put our stuff and without much delay, the whole family started to go for lunch to celebrate Rachel’s younger sister’s birthday. Her parents decided to go for a seafood lunch at one of the popular location in Malaysia. Rachel’s father said a lot of Singaporean will come all the way there to have their seafood fix due to freshness and “cheap” (Due to exchanged rates).
The restaurant was seems to be quite old with a big open air sandy “car park” covered (Take care as there were quite a lot of big holes here and there). The restaurant was located just by the sea using woods to hold them together. There were quite a lot of rubbish around the place as they were washed up by the sea along the beach. Inside the restaurant which was an open air concept using natural sea breeze and electric fan to keep the place cooling.
Time always goes so fast when you are having fun or enjoying your holiday season. It was Sunday (26 May 2013) and it was our last day (To be exact, half day) over at Malacca before we need to drive back to Johor and I need to get back to Singapore.
We eaten our breakfast buffet at hotel level 1 as usual before going back to our hotel room for a final pack up before checking out of hotel.
One of the car having a flat battery and Rachel’s father decided to use another car (We have a total of 2 cars driving to Malacca) and bring all of us to one of the nearby Japanese restaurant named “Ohan Japanese Restaurant Sdn Bhd” which Rachel’s parent went for their dinner last night and feels that they were nice and wish to eat again for lunch.
This restaurant accept Credit Card payment only if your bill was above RM80.00
Continuing with my earlier post, we were about to go back to our hotel when Rachel suggested that we go buy some famous crepe cakes by Nadeje what we missed out when we were in Malacca during our first visit and bring them back to hotel to have it together with her parents.
People queuing to enter the restaurant for their meal
Actually, I thought that we will be going over to the one located at the Mahkota Parade shopping mall but we actually went over to another branch at Plaza Mahkota which was quite near to the shopping mall branch too. Never know there was another branch so near to each other.
The road over at this place was quite narrow due to a lot of cars parking at the road side and some of the vehicles were big van type which makes it even harder to move around finding a parking lot. The restaurant was already full house with quite a lot of people queuing up to enter the restaurant for a meal here. We were considering quite lucky as when we want to temporary park our car with some of us go buy the cake, there was a car leaving right where we were stationing.
Rise and shine, one day had passed from our 3 days trip and since Saturday (25 May 2013) is a weekend which means a lot of people should be going to those popular attractions which we had planned to go too. First thing we must do after washing up was to go for our complimentary breakfasts at ground level of the hotel.
Refresh from a day rest
Restaurant which catered for our breakfast for these 2 days.
There were quite a lot of Indians guest having their breakfast at the restaurant when we were there and it seems that they were here on business trip as most of them wearing formal attire. Anyway the staff took our coupon for breakfast and just let us free and easy for us to find and get tables for ourselves before going for the breakfast buffet. The dishes there were quite acceptable but most or all of the dishes were not warm / hot.
Rachel family had planned for a 3 days 2 nights of free and easy self driven trip over to Malacca as the one we went during our 1 day trip was not really a good experience. As I was also included to the holiday plan, I went back to her Malaysia house to stay over night on 23 May after work and we start of our holiday trip on Friday (24 May 2013) early in the morning.
We stopped along the way at a restaurant for a breakfast break as Rachel’s Father said this restaurant named “Restoran Sze Hwa (世华肉骨茶)” served good Bak Kut Teh (肉骨茶). The place itself looks quite rundown but there were quite a huge crowd of people having their breakfast fix over at this place so I thought to myself that the dishes they served should not be bad too.
Seem like those olden days coffeeshop layout with Chinese tea leaves place nicely on the shelves.
After just meeting with Rachel on Friday evening for dinner cum drinking session, we meet up with each other on Saturday (11 May 2013) again as we need to go Bugis to survey on some of the things which we had been preparing to buy before planned to go back to Malaysia to have dinner together with Rachel’s Family.
So we meet at up Jurong East before proceeding to Bugis. Before proceeding to shop around, we stopped by the Bugis hawker center for a lunch first. There were quite a lot of people having their meals there as from what I know there were some very popular stall over at these area and some of them even being interviewed by some of the food critics shows.
Black Carrot Cake
Forgotten which stall are more popular ones, we just proceed to look around the place and buy anything that caught our eyes. In the end, I bough black carrot cake (Aka “Chai Tao Kway”) which was not well prepared as I was still able to taste that raw black soya sauce not really mixed well with the carrot cake though the carrot cake by itself was soft and powdery (Did not put any spring onions on top of it like most of the other carrot cake stall too). Rachel on the other hand bought Mee Rebus from one of the Malay stall (There are many more selling the same stuff).
As Rachel family will be going to have an yearly dinner with one of their good friends (This is their family yearly celebration of CNY with one of their friends), I was invited there to join them for the celebration on Saturday (2 March 2013). There are a lot of people going back Malaysia too as there seems to be an event going on that day where they bring gods for a walk around Johor Bahru. Nevertheless, Rachel’s father come to pick us up back to their home to rest for a while before setting of for the dinner. (We reached Malaysia during the late afternoon time).
Hear from Rachel that they always went back to HinoMaru Japanese Restaurant for these yearly event celebration and so, we will be there for dinner tonight. As during the Chinese New Year dinner, the dishes over there is not really that up to standard (Too small portion and nothing to choose), this time round will be different as the CNY is already over.
When we reached the restaurant, it is as usual except that we are the first customer to arrive the place. The main door to level 2 is still closed. The lady staff is nice enough to open the gate for us to go up into the restaurant even though we reached the place too early.
After their good friend’s family arrived, they started to look through the menu and order the dishes for the dinner. (As this is a celebration with their friend’s family, I did not get any details of the pricing or name of the dishes we had eaten.)
Free starter given by the restaurant. It is a mixture of potato and mayo topped with some roe. Nice compilation and good to try when you are there.
